Namibia ended their tour on a high with a 28-run win over Zimbabwe in the third T20I at Queens Sports Club, though the hosts still claimed the series 2-1.
After winning the toss and batting first, Namibia got off to a flying start thanks to Jan Frylinck’s explosive 77 from just 31 balls, an innings that included eight fours and six sixes. Supported later by Ruben Trumpelmann’s 46 off 24 and Alexander Busing-Volschenk’s 20 not out, Namibia posted 204 for 7 in their 20 overs. Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3 for 25, while Richard Ngarava and Blessing Muzarabani both struggled to contain the runs.
Chasing 205, Zimbabwe lost wickets early and were reduced to 44 for 4 inside six overs. Veteran Sean Williams fought hard with 77 from 45 balls, striking 10 fours and 2 sixes, while Ryan Burl chipped in with 32. But regular wickets, especially through the middle overs, slowed the chase. JJ Smit led the Namibian attack with 4 for 29, while Trumpelmann and Erasmus took two each.
Zimbabwe were bowled out for 176 with one ball left, falling short despite Williams’ brave effort. Namibia’s win meant they avoided a whitewash, while Zimbabwe still lifted the series trophy after their victories in the opening two matches.
Player of the Match was Frylinck for his blistering knock, while Brian Bennett, who had shone in the earlier games, was named Player of the Series.
