
RIMUKA moved to the top of the NPL T20 Blast points table with a 24-run win over Gladiators at Kadoma Sports Club on Sunday.
Rimuka struggled early, losing seven wickets for 90, but Takudzwanashe Kaitano’s 32 steadied the innings. A late partnership from Davis Murwendo, who scored 48, and Ollard Dzinokuvara’s 20 lifted the total to 157 for nine. Owen Muzondo and Munashe Zata took three wickets each, while Tanatswa Chisvo took two for Gladiators.
Gladiators began their chase well but lost three wickets for 21 runs. A fourth-wicket stand of 99 between Milton Shumba, who made 55 not out, and Panashe Taruvinga, who scored 43, revived the innings. Their scoring rate fell behind the required run rate. Taruvinga’s dismissal with 38 runs needed from 11 balls ended Gladiators’ chances, leaving them on 133 for six. Victor Chirwa took three for 18 in four overs.
Alexandra Sports Club claimed a 38-run win over Queens Sports Club at Masvingo Sports Club on Sunday. Batting first, Alexandra posted 154 for six. Faraz Akram scored 49 off 27 balls, while Hamza Shamas added 42.
Queens failed to build partnerships against disciplined bowling. Sheunopa Musekwa took five top-order wickets, finishing with five for 42. Nkosana Mpofu scored 56 not out, but Mohammad Anas Aqil’s three wickets for 18 restricted Queens to 116 for nine.
Amakhosi 1 defeated Takashinga Patriots 1 by six wickets at Masvingo Sports Club on Saturday to claim third place on the points table and a spot in the Eliminator.
Takashinga Patriots 1 failed to build momentum, with only Samuel Muyambo (31) and Ronak Patel (27) reaching 20 runs. Tawanda Maposa led the bowling with three for 30 in four overs, restricting the Patriots to 138 for nine.
Chasing 139, Amakhosi’s top order delivered. Brian Chari scored 32 and Bright Phiri added 26, putting on 52 for the first wicket. Ainsley Ndlovu scored 25 not out off seven balls, including three sixes, to finish the game with 4.3 overs remaining.
