Zambezi bonfire festival returns in style after four-year break

THE Mighty Zambezi Bonfire Festival made a strong return on Saturday at Donnybrook Park, drawing hundreds of revellers to one of Zimbabwe’s most popular winter entertainment events.

After a four-year hiatus, the festival resumed with a packed programme of live music, DJs, and lifestyle activities, despite cold July conditions.

Organisers had positioned multiple bonfires across the venue to keep patrons warm, while the lighting of the main bonfire marked the official start of the night’s entertainment.

The event opened with a performance from Tamy Moyo, who energised the crowd with a set of popular hits. She was followed by the Djembe Monks, whose percussion-driven performance maintained momentum early in the evening.

Takura, known as Mr OK OK, continued the live music segment with a catalogue of crowd favourites, before DJs Loz, Tino and Klique took over with an extended set blending Afro-house, Amapiano and local tracks.

The final performance of the night came from ExQ, who delivered a medley of his biggest hits, closing the show to loud applause.

Beyond music, patrons were given complimentary Zambezi Lager on arrival, while gaming activities and free Wi-Fi provided additional entertainment and connectivity throughout the event.
