Zimbabwe Cricket Team Set for Historic England Tour

AFTER a thrilling one-all series draw against Bangladesh, Zimbabwe Cricket has announced a 15-member squad for their highly anticipated tour of England, marking their first Test match on English soil in over two decades. The team, led by Craig Ervine, will take on England in a one-off Test match at Trent Bridge in Nottingham from 22-25 May 2025.

National selectors have made three changes to the Test squad, have recalled star all-rounder Sikandar Raza, who replaces Johnathan Campbell, while Clive Madande returns from injury to take over as the back-up wicketkeeper. Pacer Newman Nyamhuri reclaims his spot, replacing leg-spinner Vincent Masekesa, as the team opts for an extra fast bowler in light of the expected seam-friendly conditions in England.

Justin Sammons, Zimbabwe’s Head Coach, expressed confidence in the team, saying, “In terms of performance, I expect us to play to a standard that can compete with one of the best teams in the world. I really want to see the guys walking out there believing that they belong, embracing and enjoying the moment.”

Following the landmark Test match against England, Zimbabwe will face South Africa in a four-day encounter from 3-6 June at Arundel. This match will serve as vital preparation for South Africa ahead of the ICC World Test Championship final against Australia at Lord’s, scheduled for 11-15 June.

The Zimbabwe squad is expected to depart for England on Friday to acclimatize ahead of the much-anticipated Test. With a strong team and a confident coach, Zimbabwe cricket fans are eagerly looking forward to this historic tour of England.
