Zimbabwe Cricket has announced a 16-man squad for the upcoming T20 International Triangular Series involving South Africa and New Zealand.
The tournament will take place at Harare Sports Club from 14 to 26 July 2025, and all-rounder Sikandar Raza will lead the team on home soil.
Zimbabwe’s squad includes a mix of experienced players and fresh faces, with selectors hoping the new-look side can help turn a corner after a challenging period for the national team. The squad shows signs of change and ambition, with several young players getting an opportunity alongside familiar names.
Left-arm fast bowler Richard Ngarava is back in the team after recovering from a lower-back injury, a big boost for Zimbabwe’s bowling attack. He will team up again with pace spearhead Blessing Muzarabani, giving the side some much-needed firepower with the new ball and at the death.
Young all-rounder Brian Bennett has also returned after missing part of the recent Test series against South Africa due to a concussion. Known for his aggressive batting and solid fielding, Bennett is one of the brightest prospects in Zimbabwe’s setup.
The squad also includes three players who have never played a T20 international before: wicketkeeper-batter Tafadzwa Tsiga, left-arm seamer Newman Nyamhuri, and leg-spinner Vincent Masekesa. Their inclusion signals Zimbabwe’s intent to give fresh talent a chance on the big stage.
Fans can also expect to see familiar names like Ryan Burl, Tony Munyonga, and Tashinga Musekiwa, who performed well in Zimbabwe’s last T20I series against Ireland earlier this year.
Zimbabwe will begin the tournament against South Africa on 14 July, followed by a match against New Zealand on 18 July. They face South Africa again on 20 July and finish the group stage with a second game against New Zealand on 24 July. The top two teams will meet in the final on 26 July.
This series is not just about results. It’s a chance for Zimbabwe to rebuild their T20 identity and show that they can compete with some of the best teams in the world. Captain Sikandar Raza says the team is determined to play fearless cricket and make home fans proud.
