“I stay true to my identity and sound but I also listen to what the streets are saying. It’s a balancing act, you don’t want to lose your essence but you also want to stay current.

“I study trends but I don’t follow them blindly. Instead, I find ways to merge what’s hot with what’s honest. That’s why songs like Joina City, Ngaibake, or Nzenza resonate they’re street smart but still heartfelt,” said HKD Boss.

Asked who his role model was considering some fans likened him with Jamaican musicians Anthony B or Vybz Kartel, on the style, Trevor said he is inspired by many such as Busy Signal, Winky D, Sean Paul among others

“Role models are hard to find or should I say that I respect everyone who has pushed the limits to make it in life despite the circumstances.

“We have so many remarkable musicians in the world and it’s difficult to pick one. l look up to Winky D he paved a way for artistes like us, l love Anthony B, Christopher Martin, Busy Signal to name but a few,” he said

The harmonious singer said consistency and evolution made to stay relevant in the music industry. Staying in touch with the fans. I listen to their voices and reflect their stories in my music. I also reinvent myself without abandoning who I am. I treat music as both an art and a business.
