Zimbabwe Women Draw Mexico, Scotland and Turkey in Historic Footgolf World Cup Debut

ZIMBABWE’s women’s footgolf team faces an early test of its credentials after being handed a demanding Group A draw for the inaugural Women’s Footgolf World Cup, set for Acapulco City, Mexico, from May 27 to June 7, 2026.

The draw, conducted in Acapulco on February 4, paired Zimbabwe with hosts Mexico, as well as Scotland and Turkey, in a group that brings together established footgolf nations and emerging contenders. The tournament will mark the first-ever Women’s Footgolf World Cup, a milestone event expected to attract more than 900 players from around the world.

Despite the challenge, Zimbabwe enters the global tournament with confidence, ranked fourth internationally in women’s participation a sign of the country’s rapid growth in the sport. The women’s team features Beauty Mashave, Betty Mashonganyika, Margial Majoko, Munyuki Vanessa and Linda Wasara, with reserves Beauty Diniwe, Angelica Garira, Margret Vambe and Vupenyu Chitoro providing depth.

Zimbabwe will also be represented in the men’s competition by leading players Tadiwanashe Kambizi, Washington Moyo, Samuel Nyambiya and Eleven Kambizi, alongside reserve players, as part of a strong national contingent heading to Mexico.

Preparations are already underway, with a series of competitive outings planned ahead of the World Cup. These include participation in the University of Zambia Footgolf Tournament and several local events in Chimanimani, Falcon, Harry Allen, and at Cam and Motor Mine. The full travelling delegation is expected to be announced in the coming days.

Games chairperson Vanessa Munyuki said the World Cup presented a major opportunity for Zimbabwean footgolf but noted that support would be key to turning ambition into reality.

“We are thrilled to be representing Zimbabwe on the world stage and we are appealing for financial support from well-wishers to help make our dream a reality,” Munyuki said.
