Supporting local talent will make Zim music a powerhouse on International market: Jah Master Manager

ZIMDANCEHALL selector DJ Edza B real name Elton Jeru, says Zim musicians have become more confident as the quality is improving despite lack of support which drags down penetration on international market.
Also known as the Jah Master Manager, Edza B told our reporter Prince Meke that music standards have improved and what’s lacking is supporting local talent including use of old infrastructure.
“I think we are on the edge of something big. Artists are becoming more confident and the quality is improving. If we can improve our infrastructure and support local talent l believe Zimbabwe could become if not one of the region’s cultural powerhouses in the world,” he said.
“The energy of people is what drives me. As a DJ, l feed off the crowd’s vibe. On the other hand my main focus now is being a talent manager. Digital space is creating more opportunities for music growth so we are working some exciting joint ventures coming up.”
The award-winning selector said working with Hello Mwari Hitmaker-Jah Master, was one of his biggest breakthrough he made in his career.
“Networking is a major part of the game. One of my biggest decisions was managing Jah Master as it started as a joke and now we have build trust with each other. Each collaboration has taught me something new,” he explained.
Two days ago, Edza B was in Dubai with Jah Master, Poptain among other artists on a Zimdancehall drive festival.
Edza B has been in UK, South Africa, UAE, Malaysia and Germany on the drive to markert Zimbabwean music to other nations.
To date, Edza B has worked with an array of promoters both local and international among them include Chipaz Promotions, Empire Events, Nash Paints and Y2K International.
