Zimbabwean Legend Comic Pastor hangs boots in the comedy industry

UK-based comedian, affectionately known as the Comic Pastor real name Prosper Ngomashi, has announced his retirement from the entertainment industry at the end of 2025.
One of the legends in content creation made the emotional revelation in a heartfelt Facebook post this week, stating that it was time to bow out gracefully while he’s still proud of his journey and the lives he’s impacted.
Comic Pastor, who rose to fame with his satirical skits and relatable characters, admitted he no longer feels at the peak of his creative powers. Rather than “clinging on,” he said he’s choosing to step aside with dignity, describing himself as “empty” and ready to let others shine.
He reflected on July being a meaningful month for him, as many younger creators, including Hatiperi Matayi, Lorraine Guyo, Nijo the slick pastor, Mbuya VaPiyasoni and Comic Elder expressed gratitude for his mentorship.
Through a heartfelt Facebook post, the renowned entertainer bid farewell to his fans and peers, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to share his limelight with others.
During his illustrious career, the Comic Pastor played a pivotal role in launching the Monthly Comic Awards, a platform that provided much-needed exposure for emerging comedians.
His efforts brought comic relief to the nation, especially during the challenging times of the Covid-19 pandemic. Through his work, he helped shape the Zimbabwean comedy landscape, paving the way for future generations of entertainers.
Known for his significant contributions to Zimbabwe’s comedy scene, the Comic Pastor leaves behind a legacy that continues to inspire and uplift numerous artists.
He made it clear he isn’t the kind of person to hang around when the passion is gone. His message read:
“JULY has been a great month for me
