IN a combination of technology and rehabilitation, the Intercontinental Online Chess Championship for Prisoners kicks off on October 11.
More than 100 teams from 46 countries are set to compete in a unique global event featuring virtual chess battles. The competition is open to male, female, and youth teams and offers a level playing field for prison inmates worldwide.
This year, the Zimbabwe women’s team is making their debut in the global chess championship. Zimbabwe’s Prison Chess players excelled in the 2022 Intercontinental Online Chess Championship for Prisoners.
Local inmates have the opportunity to challenge themselves, learn from international competitors, and demonstrate growth and redemption.
