ZIMBABWE Netball Gems captain Felisitus Kwangwa expressed condolences over former teammate Pauline Jani’s death in Harare early Wednesday morning.
Jani, who had been absent due to illness, did not participate in the Netball World Cup hosted by South Africa.
On her Facebook page, Kwangwa expressed her pain at the loss of one of the heroines of the 2019 Netball World Cup, which was hosted in England.
“We all know that one day we are all going to leave this world, but it is hard to say goodbye to our loved ones,” mourned Kwangwa.
“Wishing the Jani and netball family peace and strength during this difficult time. May you rest easy in grace and love our Gem.”
Jani was one of the most colourful members of the Gems who would spot some colourful hairstyles and knew how to entertain the crowd with her big step antics when she stepped near the shooting ring.
One of her standout performances in national colours was the match she played against Barbados in Liverpool four years ago.
Jani continued to dominate the domestic scoring charts, turning out for her local club, Black Mambas.
Mourners are gathered in Highfields New Police camp, and details of her burial will be announced in due course.
