Bolamba Culture Birds claimed first prize with an impressive performance of the Tsutsube dance, earning the right to represent the province at the national finals.

Chihoda Blanket Mine secured second place after performing the Chihoda dance, while Blanket Mine Beni finished third with the Beni Arinoti dance.

Meanwhile, at Camp and Caravan Park in Murewa, Mashonaland East’s finest traditional dance groups battled for provincial honours.

Vimbiso Dance Troupe took second position with the internationally acclaimed Mbende Jerusarema dance, while Murehwa Prison rounded off the top three with another Mbende Jerusarema performance.

The provincial competitions form part of the nationwide Chibuku Neshamwari Traditional Dance Festival, which celebrates Zimbabwe’s diverse cultural heritage while providing a platform for traditional dance groups to showcase their talent.

The winning groups will now join other provincial champions in the build-up to the national finals, where the country’s best traditional dancers will compete for top honours and substantial prize money.
