FORMER Kobudo World Champion Shihan Wilfred Mashaya has left for Budva, Montenegro, where he will represent Zimbabwe at the World Humanitarian Festival of Martial Arts.
He departed on Thursday.
The festival, running under the theme “Stop Suicide” in commemoration of World Suicide Prevention Day, will bring together martial arts masters from across the globe. Participants will take part in training seminars, skill exchanges, and discussions with Grand Masters and Masters of different disciplines.
Master Mashaya is also expected to receive an international award at the event in recognition of his achievements and his contribution to the growth of martial arts.
This trip forms part of his build-up to the ICO World Championship, scheduled for October 15 to 20 in Wales where he will lead a team of 20.
Shidoshi Mashaya is aiming to reclaim the Kobudo World title, which he was unable to defend last year due to sponsorship challenges.
