ERICK Chauluka says his Zimbabwe A players are already absorbing the full weight of Bangladesh’s testing conditions, with searing heat, heavy humidity and sharply turning pitches combining to deliver a stern early examination on tour.
But the message from the camp is clear: adapt fast, perform, and prove you belong.
Chauluka says the tour is not just about development, it is also about results, with confidence ahead of the senior Bangladesh series later in the year a key target.
“We want growth, yes, but we also want results. That’s important for confidence going forward,” he said.
The squad arrived off the back of strong domestic performances, and Chauluka says competition for national team places remains tight.
“For the established players, it’s about showing consistency and strengthening their case for selection,” he said.
Training has not been easy. The heat has bitten hard, especially on the seamers, who have had to battle through draining sessions.
Still, Chauluka singled out Ernest Masuku as one of the early positives, praising his fitness and adaptation to the tough conditions.
The pitches themselves are expected to offer little comfort for visiting batters, with slow surfaces, low bounce and plenty of turn already evident in practice.
“Our batsmen will be tested technically. There’s turn and grip for the spinners, so we will see how we adjust,” Chauluka explained.
In response, the team has gone into full survival mode training in peak heat, focusing heavily on hydration, and using ice baths and pool recovery to stay fresh.
Behind the scenes, Chauluka also highlighted strong alignment with the senior national setup, with regular communication ensuring continuity in Zimbabwe’s cricket structures.
