Nyahada’s win highlights women empowerment at Delta awards

THEODORA Nyahada was the only woman among the 15 prize winners at the 2026 Delta Driver of the Year Awards, earning recognition alongside 14 men in a competition that put driving skill and safety first.

Her place among the winners was a significant moment for women at Delta Corporation. Nyahada’s success showed that women can compete for recognition in a field where men make up the majority, and she sees her award as representing more than her own achievement.

For Nyahada, it was also recognition for the women working across the company, whose abilities and ambitions deserve the same opportunities to be seen and rewarded.

The awards recognise employees who demonstrate safe working practices, discipline and competence. Earning a place among the winners requires consistent performance, making Nyahada’s achievement a point of pride for the women she represents.

Her success also challenges assumptions about who belongs behind the wheel. Women who want to pursue driving careers should have the opportunity to prove themselves through their skills and performance, just like their male colleagues.

Delta’s Driver of the Year competition has been running since 1990. Nyahada’s inclusion among this year’s prize winners adds a clear message to that tradition: women have a place in the company’s driving ranks and can compete for the same recognition.

For other women at Delta, her achievement offers a practical example of what can be accomplished when ability meets opportunity.
