Delta Reaffirms Education Commitment at Bursary Induction Ceremony

DELTA Corporation held a bursary induction ceremony at the Mandel Training Centre in Harare, where 100 students were formally welcomed into its education assistance programme for learners from disadvantaged backgrounds on Wednesday.

The programme, running under the theme “Educating Today’s Learners, Powering Zimbabwe’s Future,” supports high potential students from A Level through to university, easing financial pressure that often disrupts academic progress.

Speaking at the event, Delta Corporation General Manager for Corporate Affairs and company spokesperson Patricia Murambinda said the initiative reflects the company’s commitment to national development through education.

“Delta remains committed to supporting Zimbabwe’s national development agenda by investing in education and skills,” she said. “Through this bursary programme, we are ensuring that talented learners are not held back by financial barriers.”

The bursary scheme has been running for more than 20 years, with the company investing close to US$100,000 annually. To date, more than 1 300 students have benefited, bringing total investment to about US$2.1 million.

Beneficiaries are selected in collaboration with the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, ensuring support reaches deserving students from underprivileged communities across all provinces.

Delta said the programme forms part of its wider social investment strategy, which also includes classroom construction in under-resourced areas, training at the Mandel Training Centre, technical skills development through the Delta Technical Institute, and driver training for heavy motor vehicles.

The company also runs a Graduate Development Programme to support young professionals entering the job market, with former beneficiaries now working in fields such as engineering, medicine and finance.

Murambinda encouraged the new bursary recipients to remain focused and committed to excellence, saying their success would have a ripple effect on their communities and the wider economy.

The programme remains one of Delta’s key contributions to developing Zimbabwe’s future workforce through education and skills development.
