LIAM Mudenda crowned a superb team performance with an unbeaten half century as Takashinga 2 brushed aside Scorpions Cricket Club by eight wickets in their 2026 National Premier League clash at Takashinga Cricket Club.
The match belonged to Takashinga from the moment their seam attack ripped through the Scorpions top order.
Scorpions lost five wickets inside the first nine overs after choosing to bat, leaving them chasing the game for the remainder of the innings.
Takunda Madembo’s 16, Calvin Mubvute’s 20 and Fortune Mhlanga’s unbeaten 20 were the only notable contributions as the innings never gathered momentum.
Daichi Nyandoro was outstanding with three wickets for 27, sharing the honours with Shelton Mazvitorera, who also claimed three wickets while conceding only 18 runs.
Usher Garwe’s aggressive opening spell yielded two wickets, and Tanatswa Chisvo completed the demolition with two wickets of his own as Scorpions were bowled out for 94 in 20.5 overs.
Takashinga’s reply was equally convincing.
Blessing Machiha struck twice to remove Tanunurwa Makoni for 13 and Kupakwashe Muradzi for a duck, but that proved to be Scorpions’ final success.
Mudenda took control with a fluent unbeaten 53 from 40 deliveries, peppering the boundary with seven fours while rotating the strike intelligently.
Captain Baxon Gopito complemented him perfectly with an unbeaten 24 from 20 balls as the pair guided Takashinga home without further alarm.
The hosts finished on 98 for two after only 12 overs.
