Pisa Pisa Nyau Claims Mash West Chibuku Neshamwari Title

PISA Pisa Nyau emerged as the champions of the Mashonaland West provincial finals of the Chibuku Neshamwari Traditional Dance Festival held in Chinhoyi on Saturday.

The group impressed judges with its energetic Malawi Gule Wamkulu dance performance to claim first prize and secure a place at the national finals of the country’s premier traditional dance competition.

Chabvondoka finished second after showcasing the Nsenga Zambia Nyau dance, while Norton Achewa took third place with an entertaining Achewa Gule Wamkulu performance.

The competition attracted traditional dance lovers from across the province, with groups displaying colourful costumes, rhythmic drumming and cultural storytelling through dance.

As provincial champions, Pisa Pisa Nyau will now represent Mashonaland West at the national finals, where they will compete against winners from other provinces for the coveted title and top prize.

Meanwhile, in Matabeleland North, Amakhosikazi of Victoria Falls won the provincial title with their performance of the Isitshikitsha dance.

Gule Wamkulu Hwange secured second place with the Gure Zambia dance, while Amafolosi Amahle finished third after performing the Indlamu-Mzansi dance.

The Chibuku Neshamwari Traditional Dance Festival continues to celebrate Zimbabwe’s cultural diversity by providing a platform for communities to preserve and showcase traditional dances passed down through generations.
