Zambezi Bonfire Festival Roars Back After 4-year Haitus

ONE of Zimbabwe’s biggest and most eagerly awaited winter entertainment events is making a dramatic comeback after a four-year absence, with organisers promising a bigger and more exciting experience for thousands of revellers.
The Mighty Zambezi Lager Bonfire Festival will return on July 4 at Donnybrook Park in Harare, reigniting a tradition that has become synonymous with winter celebrations, live music and outdoor social experiences.
The festival, which drew huge crowds before its hiatus, has built a reputation as a unique gathering that blends music, storytelling, adventure and the iconic giant bonfire that serves as the centrepiece of the event.
Organisers say preparations are already at an advanced stage, with anticipation growing among fans eager to witness the return of what many have dubbed Zimbabwe’s ultimate winter festival.
“The Mighty Zambezi Lager Bonfire Festival has always been more than just an event; it is a unique lifestyle and cultural experience made for our Zambezians,” organisers said.
“It brings us together to enjoy Zambezi Lager and celebrate the great outdoors, music and storytelling, while building connections around the warmth of one large, unifying bonfire.”
The festival is expected to attract thousands of people from across the country, with gates opening at midday and activities running until 2am.
In a move designed to rekindle excitement ahead of the main event, organisers have lined up a series of Bonfire Micro Events in three cities.
The roadshow begins in Kadoma at Odyssey Lodge on June 13 before moving to Hartsfield in Bulawayo on June 20 and concluding at The Jam Tree in Harare on June 27.
The mini-events are expected to give fans a taste of the atmosphere that made the festival a national attraction while helping build momentum for the July gathering.
Tickets for the main event have already gone on sale, with general access pegged at US$20 and a limited number of VIP tickets available for US$50.
Industry observers believe the return of the festival could provide a major boost to Zimbabwe’s entertainment calendar, which has seen growing demand for large-scale outdoor experiences and lifestyle events.
The organisers are expected to unveil the entertainment line-up in the coming weeks, a development likely to further fuel excitement among music lovers and festival-goers.
